Champey Academy of Arts has partnered with the Raffles Hotel Le Royal in Phnom Penh to display and explain our students’ art work to guests of the hotel. In July and August we are showing our collection of 53 ink dot drawings on paper. The following slideshow includes 33 drawings currently on display at Raffles. The students were assigned themes including champey (plumeria) flowers (the namesake of our school), orchids, dancers’ hand gestures and dancers’ body poses. All of those drawings are done with ink on paper in approximate size A5 (210mm x 148.5mm)
In addition, to the assigned themes, we invited some students to draw images from the streets of Phnom Penh or the countryside. That exercise yielded the five drawings (all in size A4 (210mm x 297mm) showing a family on a cyclo, a man sleeping on his motorcycle, a farmer carrying his tool, women selling guava on the sidewalk and a girl outside the market holding her younger sibling.
All of these drawings are for sale at Raffles and at Champey Academy. Please contact us if you would like additional information about the drawings, our students or the program of instruction at Champey Academy.
