In November 2021 the Champey Academy dance students and all of our teachers worked together to replace the old, leaking thatched roof over the audience seating area in front of the dance stage in our garden.
Thanks to the very generous support of a Canadian friend of Kasumisou Foundation we were able finally to replace that deteriorating straw roof over the audience seating area. The donations from our Canadian supporter covered all of the expense for the building materials and our students and staff contributed the labor to replace the leaking old thatched roof with a brand new corrugated steel roof. This new roof will allow us to use that space for the overflow of students from the dance stage even on the rainiest days.
As our dance classes have become increasing popular, being able to use that extra space will make it possible to accommodate more eager students in the dance class.
We are very grateful to our generous Canadian friend for sponsoring the cost of this project and to our many students and teachers who worked hard to remove the old roof, dispose of the mountain of old thatch and then construct the new corrugated steel roof to replace it.
Below are a few photos of the completed new roof.
